What to Bring to a Porn Shoot
Your first shoot bag does not need to look like you are leaving civilization for three weeks. It just needs to contain the things that keep a normal workday from becoming unnecessarily complicated.
Identification. Requested wardrobe. Comfortable clothes. Your phone. Water. Personal-care basics. Anything the producer specifically asked you to bring.
The trick is knowing the difference between being prepared and trying to pack your entire bathroom, closet and bedroom into the trunk of your car.
Start With the Things That Can Actually Stop the Day
Forgetting a fourth pair of shoes is annoying. Forgetting required identification can be a much bigger problem.
Government-Issued ID
Bring the identification requested by the production so your age and identity can be properly verified.
Booking Information
Keep the address, call time, contact name and contact number available on your phone.
Required Documentation
If the production has asked you to provide particular records or documentation, confirm what is required before you leave home.
Your Phone
Bring it charged. This sounds obvious until the person trying to find the studio entrance has a phone at three percent.
Payment Details
Know the agreed rate and how payment is expected to work rather than trying to reconstruct the conversation afterward.
Anything Specifically Requested
If production asks for particular wardrobe, shoes or another reasonable item, put it on the list immediately.
If the booking itself still feels vague, go back to our guide to preparing for your first porn shoot before worrying about what goes in the bag.
Bring Options — Not Your Entire Closet
Wardrobe is one of the easiest parts of shoot preparation to overthink.
If the producer gave you a wardrobe request, follow it. If the instructions are broad, a few sensible options are usually more useful than arriving with six stuffed suitcases.
Make sure what you bring is clean, in good condition and actually fits. If you have not worn something in two years, discovering that it no longer works five minutes before cameras roll is not ideal.
- Requested outfits: Start with anything specifically mentioned during booking.
- Simple backup options: A few alternatives can be useful if something does not photograph the way everyone expected.
- Appropriate shoes: Bring what was requested plus a practical pair for walking around off camera.
- Comfortable travel clothes: You do not need to drive home dressed for the scene you just finished.
- A small laundry or separate bag: Useful for keeping worn items away from clean clothing.
Pack the Things That Help You Feel Like Yourself
A professional set may have plenty of supplies. That does not mean you want to depend on finding every personal item you prefer after you arrive.
Basic Toiletries
Bring the normal personal-care items you know you may want during a long day.
Hair & Makeup Touch-Ups
If you use particular products or shades, bringing a small personal kit can be useful even when makeup is provided.
Deodorant
Unexciting? Absolutely. Useful after several hours under hot lights? Also absolutely.
Period Products
If relevant to you, having your preferred products available saves an unnecessary emergency trip.
Prescription Items You Normally Need
Bring ordinary personal medications or other essentials you would not want to be without during a workday.
A Small Towel or Robe
Depending on the production, having something comfortable to cover up with between setups can be useful.
Food, Water and a Phone Charger Can Become Your Favorite Things in the Bag
The finished scene may be short. The production day may not be.
Adult shoots can include setup time, waiting, paperwork, wardrobe, lighting adjustments, breaks and changes to the schedule.
Bring the ordinary things that make several hours away from home easier.
Water
Having your own bottle means hydration does not depend on what happens to be available.
A Snack
Something simple that you already know agrees with you is generally a better plan than hoping lunch appears exactly when you need it.
Phone Charger
Directions, communication, payment information and transportation can all live on the same device.
Hair Tie or Clip
Tiny, inexpensive and remarkably easy to wish you had brought.
Comfortable Shoes
The shoes that work on camera do not necessarily need to be the shoes you wear for the other five hours.
A Little Cash or a Card
Parking, food, tolls and unexpected travel expenses are easier when you have a normal backup payment method.
At First, Her Bag Looks Like She's Fleeing the Country
Maya starts packing at 8:30 p.m. By 8:47, she has four pairs of shoes, twelve outfits, two makeup bags and enough miscellaneous stuff to open a small boutique.
Then She Reads the Booking Again
The producer asked for two wardrobe looks. She packs those and two reasonable backups.
She adds her identification, phone charger, water, a snack, comfortable clothes for the drive home and her normal personal-care items.
Then she takes almost everything else back out.
Her bag is suddenly manageable. More importantly, she knows why every important item is in it.
Prepared does not mean buried under luggage.
Treat the Booking Like Paid Work
This is where the difference between “showing up for something” and showing up for a job becomes obvious.
Know what you were offered. Know your call time. Know who booked you. Keep important communication available rather than deleting the thread the moment the address hits your GPS.
If the production has verification, testing, paperwork or other requirements, make sure you understand those requirements before arriving.
Testing deserves particular attention because it is not something you want to discover or improvise after you reach the set. If you are new to professional testing requirements, read STD Testing for Porn Performers so you understand clearance, timing and what to confirm before the booking.
And know how the money works. Our guide to how porn performers get paid covers payment structure in more detail, while the porn pay scale explains typical scene-rate concepts.
There Is Such a Thing as Overpacking
The first-shoot instinct is often to prepare for every scenario ever experienced by anyone in the history of filmmaking.
You probably do not need twenty wardrobe choices, every beauty product you own, expensive equipment nobody requested, or a giant collection of props simply because you are unsure what the day will involve.
When in doubt, ask the producer.
Some of the Most Important Things You Bring Don't Fit in a Bag
Your first impression is not determined by whether you remembered the perfect lipstick.
Communication
If you are delayed, confused or need clarification, communicate rather than disappearing.
Reliability
Being where you agreed to be when you agreed to be there matters enormously.
Boundaries
Know what you agreed to and communicate clearly if something does not match that agreement.
Attention
Listen when the crew explains what is happening instead of assuming you already know.
Patience
Production sometimes involves waiting. Not every minute of a shoot day is exciting.
A Good Attitude
You can be nervous and still be pleasant, responsive and professional.
Those habits become increasingly important once you start working regularly. See our guide to porn set etiquette and how new performers get more bookings.
A Local Shoot and a Three-Day Trip Are Different Packing Problems
If you are working outside your home city, separate your shoot-day bag from everything you need for the trip itself.
Travel adds another layer: transportation, hotel information, chargers, additional clothing, medications, travel documents and enough ordinary personal supplies to get through the trip.
Keeping your actual work bag relatively simple makes it much easier to arrive on set without dragging every possession from the hotel room with you.
For longer-distance bookings, see traveling for porn work before accepting the trip.
Your Packing List Doesn't Replace Knowing Where You're Going
No collection of supplies makes a questionable booking legitimate.
Before traveling to a new production, you should know who you are dealing with, where the work is taking place, what was agreed to and how the booking came together.
If important details keep changing, someone is pressuring you to ignore something you previously discussed, or the situation no longer resembles the job you agreed to, the problem is not that you forgot something in your bag.

Before You Leave, Check These One Last Time
- ID: Do you have the identification the production requires?
- Phone: Is it charged, and do you have your contact information?
- Address: Are you actually driving to the correct location?
- Call time: Do you know when you are expected?
- Wardrobe: Did you pack what was requested?
- Personal essentials: Water, small snack, charger and basic care items?
- Booking terms: Do you still understand what the job is and what it pays?
If the answer is yes across the board, stop repacking the bag.
You're ready to leave.
What New Performers Ask About Packing for a Porn Shoot
How many outfits should I bring?
Follow the producer's instructions. If the request is broad, a few appropriate options and backups are usually more useful than bringing your entire closet.
Should I bring my own makeup?
It can be useful to bring the products you personally rely on, even when makeup services are available. Ask what production expects before the shoot.
Do I need identification?
Yes. Professional adult productions require age and identity verification, so bring the identification requested by the production.
Should I bring food?
Bringing water and a simple snack you already know works for you can be smart, especially when you do not know exactly how long the production day will run.
Should I bring a friend?
Do not assume an additional person can enter a closed production set. If having someone accompany you matters, ask the producer beforehand rather than arriving with an unexpected guest.
What if I forget something?
Do not panic. Tell the appropriate production contact. Many forgotten items are minor; essential identification or required documentation can be different.
What should I wear while traveling to the shoot?
Unless production tells you otherwise, comfortable ordinary clothing is usually the practical choice. Bring the on-camera wardrobe separately.
What should I expect once I arrive?

Eventually You Stop Needing a Packing Article
The first time feels complicated because you have no personal routine yet. That changes quickly.
After a few professional bookings, you will know which makeup stays in the bag, which shoes you actually use, which snack survives a hot car, where you keep your charger and what you always seem to forget.
More importantly, the logistics become automatic enough that you can concentrate on the career itself.
That is when the next questions become more important: how to earn repeat bookings, how to build your reputation, how to use social media, how to balance studio work with creator income and how to turn individual jobs into something sustainable.
